Skier Assessment
Every custom fit begins with a comprehensive skier assessment. We take the time to discuss your ability, skiing goals, preferred resorts and terrain, prior boot history, and any special concerns. This detailed assessment is key to guiding the perfect boot selection, flex pattern, and custom fit strategy for your unique needs.
Biomechanical Examination
The next step is a Biomechanical Examination. Your bootfitter will perform a detailed analysis of your feet and legs, focusing on mechanics, structure, and balance. This critical examination identifies any issues with alignment and range of motion (ROM), and determines the flexibility of your feet and ankles. It’s how we diagnose exactly what your feet need for maximum performance.
Boot Try-On & Selection
Using the detailed information from your skier assessment and biomechanical exam, our expert will select one or two boots that best suit your ability and unique anatomy. During the try-on, your feedback is crucial! We work together to determine the boot that offers the perfect combination of balance, flex, and immediate comfort. You and your boot fitter will finalize your selection before any permanent modifications are made.
Custom Footbeds
The next crucial step is fabricating your custom footbeds. A high-quality custom footbed is an essential component of any performance ski boot—and the benefit is for all skiers, not just the experts! Since stock insoles offer minimal support, a custom footbed ensures your foot and ankle are properly stabilized and aligned, maximizing your comfort, control, and confidence.
Our footbeds accommodate your natural stance, supporting you in a balanced position. This balanced stance is the foundation for comfortable, athletic skiing performance.
Fore-Aft Balancing
We finalize the fitting by confirming and optimizing your fore-aft balance. Here’s why this matters: If your leg muscles are firing just to keep you upright, you’ll be “toast by lunchtime.” Our neutral, balanced platform lets you stand and ski efficiently, giving you the stamina and confidence to enjoy the mountain for the entire day!
Shell & Liner Customization
Next, your bootfitter fine-tunes your balance, alignment, and fit through precise shell and liner modifications. Shell work can involve everything from detailed punches to create space for bunions and ankle bones, to full shell molding under vacuum pressure. We then heat mold your liners, which drastically improves the fit and virtually eliminates the break-in period, ensuring immediate comfort and performance.
Lateral Alignment
By carefully blending all of these customized elements, we craft a pair of boots that encourages a natural, relaxed, and confident style of skiing. The result? You’ll be quicker, more agile, and—most importantly—you’ll have more fun on the mountain than ever before!
